OEd - Spring (Fishing Bootcamp)
OUTDOOR ED - Fly Fishing Bootcamp -
Want to learn the ins and outs of fly fishing? In this course students learn about fly fishing equipment as well as casting techniques, knots, and fly-tying. Students will also be involved in a stewardship program that focuses on fish life-cycles, entomology, habitat, and understanding a fisherman’s role in sustaining healthy fish environments. As a part of this course, we plan to work with the Sam Livingstone Fish Hatchery, participate in a government fish release program at a mountain lake, fish at a prairie lake, and as a culminating activity in June hike into and fly fish an alpine mountain lake. Students are expected to participate in all field trips, understanding that participation requires personal responsibility and cooperative teamwork.
