Thank you again to all those that volunteered for our Fish Creek field trip yesterday- we really appreciate you spending the day with us.
Our 'Trois Petit Cochons' (Three Little Pigs) presentations have been going great- fantastic job on pronunciation of the french words and building of the props.
MATH- please continue to review your basic math facts (multiplication and division) every evening; we have started exploring fractions this week and I have noticed that some students continue to have difficulties because they continue to struggle with their basic math facts (4 x 7= 28). Reviewing basic multiplication and division on a regular basis will help increase your child's confidence when it comes to math skills and strategies.
PARENTS: PLEASE READ AND COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PARENT SURVEY
Rocky View Schools eighth annual Parent Satisfaction Survey opened May 2 for completion through Rocky View’s public website (www.rockyview.ab.ca) under “Our Jurisdiction/Satisfaction Survey”. Alternately, simply click on the link below!
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RVSParent_17
www.surveymonkey.com Web survey powered by SurveyMonkey.com. Create your own online survey now with SurveyMonkey's expert certified FREE templates. |
Parents have until May 31st, 2017, to help Rocky View (and C.W. Perry, along with 46 other divisional schools) shape their future by providing feedback into the jurisdiction's progress towards achieving the goals and outcomes outline in our 2015-2019 Four Year Plan.
The survey contains 23 questions and will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete!
Results of the survey will be published in our School Annual Results Report in November 2016, and will be used to shape our decisions around how we will continue to move our school forward in coming years.
Please take a moment to let us know what we are doing right (and you believe we should continue) and what you would like us to consider looking at "changing up" and doing differently!
Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the RVS parent survey

November 7th 2016
Our field trip is fast approaching (November 22) and we are still missing quite a few signed permission slips and payment.
It is of great importance that permission slips are returned to me, and payment is made as soon as possible. Field trips take a lot of planning and organizing, and with that being said, we cannot book buses until we have all permission forms returned so we know the number of students who will be attending the field trip.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you!

October is going to be a very busy month for us.

Tuesday October 11th
Monday October 3rd- Our class will head to Ralph McCall School in the afternoon to meet our grade 3 reading buddies.
Tuesday October 4th- Science- We have a ZAP presentation in the afternoon. We will learn about Electric Safety
This is what we are learning:
- L.A. - We will begin our research project on a celebrity or personal hero that has shown GRIT. Ask your child what GRIT is as well as the characteristics that someone has when they portray GRIT.
- Math - We will continue to explore the various forms of estimation.
- S.S. - Now that we have dissected a map and know what is needed for a map to be helpful, it is time to start making our own map.
How would you get home from C.W. Perry School?
- Science - We will continue learning about the different aspects of weather. This week we will take a look at clouds and learn why they are important when it comes to weather.
- French -It is time to put our new french vocabulary to the test. Together we have explored people and places that we see in a school environment in French. This week we will begin the 'rough copy' of our classroom timetable.

Wednesday, September 14th
I gave each student a very important form to bring home today. This form contains parent and student Powerschool access information and is yours to keep at home.
Thursday, September 8
Good afternoon!
This week has been a busy one filled with planning, organizing, and getting to know each other. I am currently having issues with inputting new contacts into my email and appreciate your patience. As soon as this issue is rectified I will send an email to all of you.
Your child will be coming home today with a whole lot of paperwork for you to sign. Once you have had the time to go through the forms and sign them, please send them ALL back to school with your child- Thank you!
September 1, 2016.
Congratulations- we made it through day 1! It was a very busy day but an excellent start to the 2016/17 school year.
For those that I did not get to meet at the open house, as well as those that did not receive my welcome letter (sorry I did not have enough printed off), I have attached the letter to this website for your viewing.
As I mentioned to some of you already, our class lists and schedules are still changing. I appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this. Everything should be finalized by next week. With this being said, I do know that there is a small change to our schedule. I previously stated that Mr. Hayashi will be teaching my students science- that has changed. I will now be teaching science to my homeroom class and Mr. Hayashi will be teaching my class (Ms. Kennedy's) Art and DPA (daily physical activity).
We had some really great discussions today and good questions that your children asked that I thought were important to share with you. They are the following:
Homework (of course this question was asked)
I always give students plenty of time to finish an assignment in class. If students use their time wisely there is no reason why they can not finish their assignment in the time I give them. With that being said, there may be times when homework is brought home due to choices they have made regarding time management.
Water Bottles
Water bottles are encouraged. Especially with hot days like today. Students are able to keep their water bottles at their desk for the day. I prefer each student to have a water bottle in the class as opposed to leaving the class to go to the water fountain.
Gym Strip
Our class gets to go visit Mr. Carter tomorrow (Sept 2) for a tour of the gym. At this time, Mr. Carter will also give students their gym strip. Students will bring their gym strip home to try on. If you are happy with the way they fit, Mr. Carter encourages you to write the name of your child on the tags. If you are unhappy with the fit please have your child return it to Mr. Carter and he will get your child a new set.
Agenda
My plan is to get students to write in their agenda everyday. I will try my best to allot time at the end of each day to have them write in their agenda. This message may be a quick note on their favourite part of the day, assignments with upcoming due dates, or homework. I ask that you sign the agenda (initials are fine) everyday. Please feel free to write me a quick note in the agenda as well.
I will be uploading the student schedule on here as soon as it is finalized!
Have a great long weekend!
