Class News

Dear Parents, I hope you have all had an enjoyable week. We have certainly enjoyed our week in the classroom. We have been working on building our writing skills by focusing on descriptive language (adjectives and adverbs) to enhance the effectiveness of our writing. We are trying to sell a Haunted House believe it or not! In math we have been focusing on representing and comparing numbers. In science we made a wind vane and looked at wind and switched our focus nearer the end of the week to humidity. In social we have been putting our attention towards learning about the Cordillera Region. Many of our children in our classroom community have been to BC so have a background knowledge to pull from in relation to this region. Next Friday we will be celebrating Halloween in our classroom. This year will look a little different in regards to Halloween. We encourage our children to bring a healthy snack to eat most days. On Friday the children are invited to bring a special treat for themselves. We will not be sharing any food or drinks as we usually do. The children are invited to dress up if they are interested. There is no full face covering allowed or any ‘weapon’ like accents that may go with a costume. I encourage the children not to wear the blow up costumes as we just do not have the space for these kinds of costumes and they are a big distraction to the child over the course of the whole day. We have parent phone interviews next Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 – 6:00. I am sorry I will not get to celebrate your child with you in person. You are welcome to book an interview time slot of 10 minutes by going onto CW Perry website. If you do plan on booking an interview session, please make sure you leave a phone number that you would like to be reached at. We continue to focus on grati tude for our month of October. We have gone through each of our community members and told each other what we appreciate about them. We have also taken some time to use our writing skills to write down some of the things we are grateful for with our community members. Preparation for Next Week: • Book Exchange Monday • Halloween Celebration next Friday (dressing up and individual special snack optional) Have a great weekend as we start to explore new activities and opportunities with the winter weather! Kind Regards, B. Schmaltz
